Happy May the first everyone! We made it! Bring on the sun!
Before we embark on the new month, I’ve been wanting to do a favourites post for quite some time and I’m so excited to share with you what I was absolutely loving last month. I’ve put together a variety of things you might enjoy, so without further ado, lets jump into it, shall we?
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads
I have extremely sensitive skin so I’m very picky about what I put on my face. For the longest time I tried to find a product that would get rid of my dry skin but not cause redness. After a few weeks of using FAB’s facial radiance pads, my skin feels super soft and refreshed. And the best part? It’s quick and easy to use so I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a low maintenance skin care routine.
Marrakesh Oil
This bottle of heaven came in my first Fab Fit Fun box and I immediately fell in love with the smell. I generally enjoy smelling like baked goods and this hair oil smells like brown sugar. I enjoy using hair oils because it’s a nice way to nourish split-ends but you literally only need a small dab because otherwise your hair will look super greasy.
Sol de Janeiro – Samba 2 Step Foot Fetish Care
It’s official! Pedicure season is here! Are your tootsies ready? Between the cold weather we’ve been having and the self-inflicted damage I’ve been putting on my feet as I learn to run, mine are constantly in need of some TLC. The thing I love most about this cream is that it absorbs very quickly and leaves your feet feeling soft, minus the greasy residue.
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Aurora Glow Kit
Am I too old to shine like Tinkerbell? Probably. Do I care? Nope. While some of the colours are not exactly for everyday (the blue hue Orion, for instance), a light application goes a long way. I tend to play it on the safer side with my makeup looks but this palette make it easy to achieve a flawless glow without looking like a disco ball.
Too Faced – Unicorn Tears Bronzer
The year was 1985 and I received a My Little Pony Dream Castle for Chanukah and my love for unicorns was born. When Too Faced released this unicorn beauty collection, I immediately got in touch with my inner child and gave her a hug. And then I went and bought this unicorn tears bronzer/highlighter duo which achieves both a sun and moonlight glow. It also smells like baked goods which is always a win.
Kaizen Vegan Protein
My body can’t digest casein, a protein found in milk and other dairy products (um, fart much?). I wanted a powder that was delicious, but didn’t taste like I was eating dirt, like many vegan protein powders I had sampled in the past. Enter KAIZEN. One scoop in some almond milk and I’m getting 25 grams of protein to keep my blood sugars stable and my tummy (and pooper) happy.
Nature’s Bounty – Hair Skin and Nails Gummies
My favourite kind of vitamin is in the chewy form (Flinstones anyone?). In all seriousness, I noticed after having Ethan that my hair started to fall out, which while completely normal, was a little distressing. I’m normally not so quick to jump on to the supplements train, but after reading reviews and of course consulting my doctor, I gave it a shot. In the past few months, my hair has been feeling healthier and stronger.
ProGranola Protein Cereal
I absolutely love cereal for breakfast but it’s hard to find a brand that isn’t filled with added sugar and ingredients you can’t pronounce. I found this bag at Noah’s Natural Foods and it’s low in carb and high in protein and fibre, which will keep you full all day. Plus it’s absolutely delicious with some almond milk. If you try it, let me know what you think.
The Enchanted Life – Unlocking the Magic of the Everyday
Talk about magical, this book came as an unexpected surprise, courtesy of the team at House of Anansi Press. As soon as I started reading, I couldn’t wait to share it with you. The Enchanted Life is an in-depth exploration about how to life a life that is satisfying, authentic and well, magical. What I loved most about this book was the way in which Sharon Blackie invites her readers to really reflect about past experiences in order to move forward and make changes. At the end of each chapter are a series of exercises and questions to assist readers in shifting their thinking to get back to a place of enchantment. This book really spoke to me as this blog is basically my way of finding magic in my everyday life. Be sure to check it out.
B. Toys – Boogie Bus
I wanted to save this one for last. I tend to be picky about what books and toys to bring into our house (quality over quantity). Anyways, we bought this as his “Afikoman/Easter egg” prize and he absolutely loves it. Not only does it feed into his love for cars, but it’s an interactive play experience. When you put the driver in the front seat and press his head, the bus starts up, the lights turn on, honks the horn and then rolls away. It’s a fabulous toy for dramatic play, language development or even as a tool for preparing children for school, or going on a bus for the first time. I’m a big fan of B. Toys because you can tell they really try to make toys that honour curiosity.
So there you have it! My favourite picks for April!
Be sure to let me know if you try any of the products I’ve mentioned. I look forward to sharing more with you at the end of May.
Enjoy the sunshine today!
