Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you all had a great long weekend. I ran into some interesting challenges with our computer crashing over the long weekend. While things are not exactly back to normal, I’m happy to have my list of June favourites for you, even though they are a little late.
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rich Cream Facial Moisturizer
This jar of wonder was a complimentary but completely unexpected surprise from Influenster. When it comes to skincare, not only am I hyper vigilant about taking care of it but I am super picky. That being said, I couldn’t believe the results I received from using Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal Rich Cream. With just a small amount, your skin will feel extremely hydrated (but not greasy) and is the perfect moisturizer to prep your skin before applying makeup. I’m definitely looking forward to trying other products in the line.
Foreo Luna Fofo
When the Foreo Luna Fofo in all her pink glory showed up in my summer Fab Fit Fun box, I couldn’t wait to try it out. There are many versions of the Foreo but this one has blue tooth technology that measures your skins moisture levels! Using the two sensors at the back and following the prompts, it sends all the information to your phone, giving you skin care tips based on your personalized needs (which is perfect because I’m such a skin care nerd). And what makes the Foreo so superior to other electric facial cleansers are the silicone bristles, which are not only easy to clean but quick-drying, preventing the buildup of bacteria. This little piece of heaven has been a game changer to my skin care routine!
Nails Inc Superfood Nail and Cuticle Repair Oil
I used to go to the nail salon on a regular basis but over time, this self-care routine was doing more harm than good. Not only were the chemicals from the polish and removal causing my nails to weaken, but my cuticles were also becoming so dry that they would bleed. While getting my polish removed, one of the nail technicians recommended Nails Inc and I’m so glad she did. After a few weeks of use, my cuticles have stopped peeling and my nails feel stronger. While $19 is a little pricey for a nail oil, you really don’t need a lot and it will last you a long time.
Sun Bum SPF 50
Keeping up with the skin care theme for this months faves, I wanted to include my new favourite sunscreen. While I wish I could turn a nice shade of brown to ease my year round Canadian complexion (ie. pale AF), my genetic history does not allow it (read: cancer sucks). The thing I love most about Sun Bum is how easy it is to apply and it doesn’t have a greasy texture. It also absorbs relatively quickly and if you are a child of the 80’s like myself, the smell is a complete throwback to the banana/coconut aroma from brands like Hawaiian Tropic. And bonus? It hasn’t been recalled, like many of it’s competitors (you can read Health Canada’s list here).
Mud Run Medal and A Tribe Called Bliss
I know I dedicated two posts to both of these faves but I had to throw them in. My faves are not just about products but allow me to reflect on things that brought me joy in the last month. I wanted to close this post with these two faves because they are not only “things” but symbols of what is to come. When I look at my Mud Girl Run Medal that hangs in my room, I remind myself that I am capable of doing anything I put my mind to. That whole experience taught me to keep pushing to be the best version of myself possible and to challenge myself in new and healthy ways.
Lori Harder’s book, A Tribe Called Bliss, has also played a significant role in not only my health and wellness journey but my blogging and vlogging goals. A Tribe Called Bliss has taught me the importance of having people who you show up for and who show up for you; who support you and lift you up. Quite often, our journeys are stalled by people who are negative and try to make you feel bad for wanting to change and try new things. I’ve had to let these people go in order to move forward. If you have the chance, please grab her book and listen to the Earn your Happy Podcast, which is available for free on iTunes. Be sure to let me know what you think!
So there you have it!
But WAIT! Before you go I have one important announcement:
The Urban Yenta Broadcast
Surprise!
I’ve started to broadcast on YouNow, a live broadcasting service where you can watch and interact with people from around the world in real time. Even though I originally intended this as an exercise to become more comfortable on camera, I’m actually really having fun! If you’re not a member yet, it’s free to sign up and once you do, you can watch my broadcasts here!. While I don’t have a set broadcasting time (yet), if you follow me on my social media accounts, you will get a notification when I go “live”. Come and interact and jump into the conversation!
That’s all for now. I hope you all have a great evening and will post again later in the week!
