Last Friday, I had so much fun attending the Nordstrom Winter Beauty Event which took place at the Eaton Centre. With over 20 beauty counters to choose from, each brand was offering up free services. I signed up with Charlotte Tilbury because I was curious about her skin care line. This was a the perfect opportunity to try before buying.
Is she worth the hype? Here’s what happened.
The Skin Care Routine

Did you know this existed?
I met Malki, my Charlotte Tilbury Skin Care Expert, who explained that today I was going to experience the “goddess ritual”. I was immediately intrigued. My coat was promptly checked and I was escorted to to a private studio at the back of the beauty department.
Before starting the facial, Malki gave me a small Citrine gem stone to hold and told me to choose one thing to let go of. Was this real life? Skincare AND crystals? I felt like a unicorn.
After giving my skin a once over, Malki determined I have combination skin. This means I’m dry in some areas (cheeks, the sides of my nose) and oily in others (chin and forehead). She also observed that I have large pores. In addition to double cleansing, Malki was also going to be using a clay mask.
The Goddess Cleansing Ritual
First, Malki applied the Goddess Cleansing Ritual. This product consists of two steps, a citrus oil cleanser and a charcoal cleanser. The citrus oil cleanser removes the dirt, oil and extra lingering makeup from your skin. The second step charcoal cleanser detoxifies and reduces dryness and scaliness, one of the wonderful benefits of our Canadian winters.
My skin felt awesome afterwards! But this show wasn’t far from over.
The Goddess Clay Mask
The next step was to apply the mask. Since my pores are rather large, Malki used the Goddess Clay Mask, a product she recommends using twice a week.
A generous amount of product was massaged into my skin and while we waited for the mask to absorb, Malki gave me a hand massage using the Magic Night Cream.

Am I a Goddess yet?
What I love most about this mask is how easy it applies to the skin. It doesn’t crack or harden which keeps the mess at bay. As soon as Malki removed the mask, my skin felt so hydrated and I couldn’t believe the immediate difference in my pores.
Charlotte’s Magic Cream
Malki topped off this routine with the final step, Charlotte’s Magic Cream.
Let’s talk about this little jar of magic shall we?
Clocking in at $139, this jar of wonder does not come cheap. I wanted to hate it. I wanted to hate it for the price. For the quality. For the strategically placed branding and attractive packaging. But here’s the thing: I really care about my skin. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, and when I do, I want it to sit right. In the last few years, I’ve become more mindful of the skin products I use. I have a condition called KP (Keratosis Pilaris) that causes small and hard bumps on my body and sometimes on my face. Since taking the time to build a consistent routine of products that fit my needs, I’ve noticed a huge difference in the texture and the symptoms have reduced significantly.

The Makeup Application
After the goddess ritual concluded, I was invited to have my makeup and hair touched up.
Um, yes?
I absolutely fell in love with Alina, a senior makeup artist with Charlotte Tilbury. I was looking for a very natural look and any tips and tricks on how to fill in my patchy brows. In the past, I felt like they were too “drawn” and I was looking more like Ernie and Bert then Audrey. Alina loved sharing all her tips with me and showed me how to put together a simple every-day look.
I thought I was done. But nope!
The Hair
As Alina was finishing up, Mandee from Drybar came over and offered to touch up my hair. I agreed that this look needed some “I woke up like this” curls. Using The Wrap Party and Styling Wand, Mandee showed me how easy it is to use. I am completely awkward when it comes to beauty tools so I was excited to learn about such a cool and user-friendly option. While I decided to hold off on buying, Mandee still sent me home with a little gift.

The final product.
I absolutely loved the Nordstrom Winter Beauty event. I had no idea they even has events like this in store and was impressed by the top notch customer service. If you’re curious about this event or any future events, be sure to check out Nordstrom’s webpage and Instagram for more details.
